I really don’t know where to start – it was a very embarrassing and unpleasant experience from start to finish. I bought a birthday gift for my sister for a Fizzy Afternoon Tea with one hours feeding the Llamas experience. We tried several times to book this experience to be told there those dates had already gone (due to the time Abel’s Harp took to reply to us) but eventually booked for today 19th September 2021. We arrived at the time we were told to for afternoon tea, to be met by the receptionist telling us we weren’t booked in. Thankfully we had an email of proof to show her but she was quiet obviously annoyed at our turning up and voiced with a sign she would ‘sort it out’ but we would have to wait some time. We were also told that the one hour feeding the Llamas wasn’t allowed as they had been informed by their local council they needed a license to allow visitors to feed the animals so we would be able to photograph them and watch her feed them.!!! We sat down feeling a little uncomfortable about the whole greeting and within 10 mins our food arrived. Unfortunately for us the young lady who brought it to our table had given another tables food to us by mistake as they were already there and had been waiting some time for their afternoon tea to arrive. As you would expect that table were annoyed at the fact we had only just sat down and had been served before them so one of the them went up to complain. Then ly came back to their table and were overly vocal in telling the rest of their table the reason for their delay was ‘some people had arrived who weren’t booked in and had been given their food by mistake’. We were so embarrassed at being talked about and stared at by the other table for something that wasn’t our fault – so not only had we been made to feel unwelcome on turning up but then left to feel most uncomfortable whilst eating our food. It was most unprofessional of the receptionist to even tell them we weren’t booked in but it was made to sound like it was our fault! With regards to the food – I have never ever been to an afternoon tea of such poor quality – it consisted of a tiny miniature pork pie, small sausage roll, 4 small triangles of sandwiches, the skinniest smallest slice of coffee cake Madera cake, tiniest scone – all of which were shop bought and of very poor quality – and the scone wasn’t even fresh – it was very dry and stale. We had to wait over half an hour for a glass of water which we had ordered before sitting down for my young niece which I asked for a second time and it eventually arrived when we had practically finished our food. We didn’t get our prosecco at all!!!! Once finished with our food we went with the lady to see the Llamas which the whole one hour experience lasted about 10 minutes at most. There is only so long you can watch 3 Llamas eating a handful of food out of someone else’s hand. I was embarrassed and completely disappointed in the whole thing – this was a birthday present for my sister and we were all made to feel completely unwelcome and the food was cheap and tasteless. I would like a credit for the Wowcher so that I can rebook something for my sister that she can enjoy and to make up for this appalling experience.
