Needed appliance repairs related to inefficient electric clothes dryer. TAS replaced thermofuse on May 29,2020 and charges paid. Requested pre-paid call-back on June 15 because of persistent problem. TAS revisited work but did not directly inspect the internal repairs and concluded no problem. Problem persisted. On November 23, another repair service engaged for same problem exposed the heating chamber and immediately detected a “botched job” with visually obvious faulty installation of a thermofuse that was “potentially dangerous”. Manufacturer contacted and reported that incorrect part was (incorrectly) installed. Original work repaired and problem resolved. TAS, the original repair service, was contacted immediately by phone on Nov 23 and invited the send an employee to inspect/confirm the faulty work. Work was obviously inept and call-back failed to inspect. Vendor refused unless paid in advance. Photos of faulty work, wrong part and eventual correct repairs emailed instead in conjunction with detailed letter on Nov 25 that outlined the faulty services and requested reimbursement of charges plus $85 for additional considerations. No response. On repeated calls to TAS Customer Contact from Nov to Jan, she was said to be “unavailable”. Requests for return calls were ignored. Calls ceased on Jan 11 when caller advised not to expect any response. Certified letter sent to TAS president on Jan 28 recapitulating all events, claiming gross lack of responsiveness, and repeating request for reimbursement of charges. It should be noted that TAS levied an up-front charge of $84.95 (plus fuel surcharge) which, upon inquiry, was justified as costs of training their technicians described as more qualified than other services, and cost of 30-day call-back service.
