I had a problem with Magic Jack and I searched Google for technical assistance other than live help by typing rather than oral communication. I found the number to Tech Trager in that search. My first question was is this Magic Jack tech assistance. ? The affirmative response was received and accordingly they feared that I had been hacked and scamed. They had me convinced that I needed their service and that they would take charge of the computer to fix it and that Fed Ex would be at my home Monday morning. to pick up a $250 check.
My mistake was to believe their pitch and fearing identity theft and getting into finances I allowed the takeover of the computer. Subsequently checking for programs I did not see additional program as a result of their promise that I would now be fully protected.
I( then contacted Magic Jack who advised that ” no third party represents them”. Accordingly I felt that I was scammed by Tech Trader in that they misrepresented their association with Magic Jack and that no real problem exists with my computer.
To be certain I then contacted AOL Technical and reiterated what transpired . They would take command of the computer and check it all which would take 4 to 6 hours. Their conclusion. Nothing is wrong and I am fully protected.
As I did not provide a check to Fed Ex I mailed a letter of explanation to Tech Trager. Then I received a teleohne call and was threatened with a lawsuit and that the defense would cost me more than the amount owed.. Then they asked If I would settle for $150. which I declined. Repeated threat and a lawyers letter would be forthcoming.
