  1. I had a blog with Hostgator for over ten years. The blog was of writing that was important to me, short stories, articles, poetry and a novella. Most of this work I have copies of. In late fall I ran into financial difficulties and wasn’t able to cover the fee and my blog was stopped. In January when I contacted them to see if it could be revived, they said there was no chance, they wouldn’t have a backup of it as two months had passed. I assumed all business dealings with them were closed at that point until they suddenly took $15 out of my account on May 10th for the domain. I contacted them on their chat ( the process was difficult as I’m not set up as having a current account with them). I said I had been charged this, I no longer have the blog, and i wanted it refunded. Why would I want the domain if I no longer had the blog, I said. I had not been informed when I contacted them in January about the chance of reviving my blog that I did still have a domain with them and I would be charged for it. I was given a ticket for my complaint and I received an email saying since the domain had been renewed, it was too late to stop it for this year and the money couldn’t be refunded. I responded late that night saying I wasn’t happy about this and wanted my complaint to be escalated. I received a message back saying the matter had been closed. I was told in the chat that the domain and customer service departments don’t communicate with eachother as they are two separate departments. This all seems very dodgy to me and I think next May I will have the same problem, as I was unable to cancel my domain. My bank has suggested that I change my bank number, as I believe Hostgator will try to take the same $15 out of my account next year. I believe this is fraudulent, and extremely poor business practice, and I am extremely disappointed in Hostgator. I would not recommend them to anyone else. Why would you treat a customer you had for ten years like this?

  2. Went to cancel an account with Hostgator and they wouldn’t refund the unused portion of my service. I don’t feel they did enough to ensure I was aware of automatic payments and the cancellation policy regarding unused portions.

  3. I transferred my Domain name to Hostgator from Bluehost, EPP codes and an unlocked Domain, with no problems, however; when I discovered that I would not be able to use their services, because of the limited and untimely support issues that arise, (virus) or no (Virus), I did not ask for a refund, I ask for the key to the front door, (Epp code) for my Domain and I needed to have my Domain unlocked, their answer was by their actions: one of their reps told me I need to get my Epp codes from an unknown Register, not Hostgator, until I presented to him a copy of all the information that pretained to LaunchPad, which is who they use to log information during a transfer, only then did he provide me with the Epp codes, But, when I tried to unlock my Domain, the slider, would not say unlocked, and the next rep who was there to help with the unlock domain problem said it would probably be 5-10 minutes for the unlock status to propagate via the web, so that I could stop getting ‘Domain is locked’ from the Google Domain transfer page. But at this point 3 hrs later, when I go to my Dashboard, it shows on one page the Domain is unlocked, however; when you change the position of the slider, it still does not show my Domain is unlocked. I keep a written/visual record of all correspondence, with ISP because some of them lie alot, I simply present what happen. What I would like to see happen is my Domain name is released immediately, if not right now! Pleas see file attached.
