Pick n Pay — TINNED TUNA IN SALT WATER MIXED UP WITH TUNA IN OIL IN DISCOUNT BASKET

Good day.

This morning I went to Pick ‘n Pay as mentioned above I saw tins of Tuna stacked in a wire basked and advertised as 4 for R55.00 (see photo attached) with no indication that the price was only applicable on the tuna in salt water. I took 4 tins without looking and went to pay.

At the till the staff was not very friendly(I felt like an intruder disrupting something). the amout was far more than I expected. the staff explained to me it was my choice to pick the tuna in oil at a cost of R24 per tin and only 1 tin of tuna in salt water.

I tried to to explain that that was not displayed like that. (Refer to photo) they then said that it is the customers mixing up and shifting the stock on the selves. why would a customer including me as insinuated took tins and tins af tuna and mix it up with orthers. surely somebody should have noticed it.

They were also unwilling to correct the transaction stating that they cannot give it to me at the discounted price. That was not what i wanted because when i went to show the lady what is in the basket,I took 3 tins of tuna in salted water because one was already at the till.

At that stage they were still reluctant to assist as if to force me to pay the wrong sale( R19.99 x1 and R24 x3 adding up to R91.99). I then suggest to them to cancel the sale and just ring it up again with the correct items and the correct price. Not a very difficult problem to solve but with that kind of attitude and insinuations it seems to be impossible.

It was really a very nasty situation with customers as an audience.

I think Pick n Pay will do much better with friendly staff without attitude. Customers dont react very good in circumstances like this as will talk about this outside the shop. You customers is your walking advertisements.

THIS DOES NOT APPLY TO EVERY PICK ‘N PAY SHOP.

APPRECIATE YOUR CONCERN.
