On or about February 28, 2018, Loan Depot contacted me on a request I had posted on line for Loan Modification. A Sales person by the name of Donald contacted me and requested some personal documents which I sent him. He told me that I needed to have a home inspection done at my expense for $435.00. I complied and had the inspection done even though I am a senior on a fixed income and that amount put a big strain on my budget. Everything was going along smoothly until they found out I had had two late mortgage payments in 2017. I was called by the sales persons boss a few days later to inform me about my lateness and turned down the loan. My complaint is the following. Why don’t they check the records first before having a house inspection for later turning a person down. My belief is that this home inspection is a scam and they should be investigated. If being late on your mortgage at some point in your contract is one of their stipulations for not approving the loan, then they should check this out first and not make people spend money they don’t have.
