Installed sod without properly preparing the soil underneath. Now I have to pay another contractor to come out remove the dead sod and replace it. I hired Lemus Landscaping via Atolinar Leamus because he had good reviews and quoted a better price than another bid. He claimed my lawn would be smooth and drainage issues would be resolved by grading the slope on one side of my home. The sod was installed March 2020, now in June it is dead and the side of my house is a swamp where he “leveled” out the grade. I will have to spend twice as much to have the dead sod removed, to build up the low areas he graded, install French drains, and put in all new sod. I was in continuous contact with Lemus over the last several months, including sending photos of concerns. He made excuse after excuse and said it was my fault for not fertilizing the sod. Even after he fertilized it–it is a horribly expensive disaster. The owner of the sod farm was more helpful than Lemus, but he cannot really do much other than offer to replace dead sod. I still have to pay for the needed prep to make it survive.
