Google — Neither of those options will work

I purchased a nest thermostat in 03/2021. This thermostat has been working fine until Google most recent update. The update broke my thermostat in the sense that it will no longer stay connected to the network and the battery drains. I haven contact Google twice, speaking to three different people. The first person says I need a common wire. The second two people say I need a new thermostat, but Google wants me to either wait 7-10 days with no air conditioning in the middle of the summer, or let them hold $200 from my card for a week just to replace the thermostat. Neither of those options will work. I am requesting someone from upper management, not middle management as they’re unhelpful. I am also either requesting a replacement without the strings attached or my $250 back so I can purchase a new thermostat. This experience has been eye opening to say the least.
