Dollar General — Denying elderly service

My 60 years old mother in law was turned away from buying smokes as she had no id. Due to medical and other reasons she has no id and cannot get one. I asked a lawyer friend and they said it could be considered a form of discrimination. Everywhere else common sense can be used but not at dollar general. Also, the law says if they appear to be under a certain age then you have to card. Even the cigarette rep that was there was telling them the same thing. Luckily the rep was nice enough to buy them for her. Allow employees to use common sense. If a 60-year-old crippled woman is trying to buy smokes then let her.
