This attorney is suspect to say the least. I had a very similar expirence as the other review mentioned on the BBR. This attorney and his legal assistant are criminal to say the least. DO NOT retain him for anything in relation to real estate. He essentially, was paid a retainer only never to do work until the exact day the next payment was owed. I called this firm after receiving a notification by way of solicitations in the mail that a family member was allegedly involved in a lawsuit with her HOA. I spoke with someone who initially presented themselves as an attorney only to find out approximately a month later that he wasn’t an attorney. This person who I’ve identified as Fred literally stopped communicating via text and phone after I paid my retainer. I called the number multiple times to no avail. Finally, I googled the name on the paperwork which was Cozymk Law and called the number found on their website. I spent. approximately 15 minutes explaining that I had paid a retainer and that I’ve yet to speak with the attorney since paying. I was transferred to his assistant Brittany. She was very brash and rude to say the least. She asked me what my legal issue was to which I explained that I had told this all to Fred(The Fake Attorney ); She then mentioned to me that he wasn’t an attorney. At this point over one week had passed and the legal case was time sensitive. Fred ( The Fake Attorney) insisted that the problem would be solved and it was going to be easy and wouldn’t take more than one month of which my initial retainer would cover everything. I would later speak to Attorney Cozymk who wanted me to tell him what was going on again. He was able to look up the case and additionally insured me that he had expertise in these matters. Weeks later no answer or notice of representation had been filed. I was then contacted by his billing department to handle the next months retainer before a month had even elapsed and less than the time where I had spoke with the attorney. I initially asked if anything had been filed to which she responded “NO” I then questioned why had nothing been filed she said she was unsure. I told her that that wasn’t satisfactory and asked why I’m being billed again if nothing had been done. She had no answer to that and promptly transferred me to his Assistant Brittany who was very rude this time around. I asked her the same questions . I received the response that nothing had been filed but was going to be filed later. I told her they had been sitting on this for weeks and it was time sensitive. I additionally told her my frustration in finding out that the person Fred. wasn’t an attorney. She then tell me in a Trumpian Mob Boss ” exploitation” fashion that if it wasn’t paid and I wasn’t happy I could cancel the contract to which I replied “ok..” You guys haven’t done anything accept take my money. She replied that they allegedly attempted to reach out to the HOA but couldn’t find their information. Waste of time. The intentions of the reason why they were retained were crystal clear. I would later get an email from Peter Cozymk that accused me of being rude to his staff. I immediately was turned off. It seems that Brittany fallaciously lied. He further goes : ” Dear Mr. J****:We have been on your case for less than one month, and I am already receiving multiple complaints from my staff about the way you’re treating them. It is my understanding that you have been overly aggressive, have raised your voice, have threatened to refuse to pay your fees, and that you have questioned our procedures, and accused us of not doing any work on your file. This is a terrible start to our relationship… I am not going to fight with you over paying our bill, or about my legal strategies. I was anticipating more cooperation, and less combativeness…. so while I understand you are an aggressive individual…I will be on vacation from 12/18/2020 through 12/25/2020, during which I will be out of state and unavailable. But your case is a high priority file…” Don’t hire this Firm. Read a similar complaint on BBR from another client . I’ll be filing a complaint with the bar also.
