On September 09, 2021, when my dad request an application to get a MasterCard from Costco, the agent in the customer service reject him to provide him an application because he has no Costco membership card. He applied for this card and they reject him because he has not accepted his Canadian citizenship card according to Costco instructions in their system. To get him a membership card first to be eligible for applying MasterCard so I used my driver’s license to get this membership card. I got this card under my name plus a second card for my dad and told me this second card is on hold till I get the bank statement for approving his address. After few days I provided Costco a bank statement and they gave him a membership card but they did not allow him to apply for Costco capital one MasterCard because of the same reason which was not accepting citizenship cards. According to their system, they told me they accept passport or driverès license. My dad was a senior and 93 years old has only a citizenship card but he has no driver license and an expired passport 20 years ago because he has no intention to travel and a renewal passport cost him 300 dollars. when I asked the manager why you did not accept citizenship card which legal document issued by the Canadian government and it is superior to passport or driver license if not equal. The general manager of the store told me this instruction in our system and emerged by capital one Mastercard to us. I contacted capital one MasterCard and the capital one agent told me no it was not from us. To resolve it by accepting this legal document citizenship as an ID with a bank statement for address approval and they let my dad apply for a Costco Mastercard and they change these unfair instructions in their system and add citizenship card to passport or driver license either one.
