My husband and I signed a contract with Ron to complete our new driveway project. We paid exactly as defined in our contract for the work that was completed. About 80% into the job, Ron said his cost went up and my husband told him we signed the contract for the agreed price for the job to be completed. We paid him in full and asked for our paid receipt. It has now been two weeks since the job was completed, we’ve asked for the paid receipt and lien waiver and it has not been provided. I received a text message today to call Ron and when I did he told me I needed to pay him an additional $1400 for the added work that he performed on our driveway. No additional work was done other than what we agreed to in the contract. He told me if I don’t pay him $1400 I can pay the concrete company $2500 as they will be coming after me and putting a lien on my house. I never received any formal documentation for the additional money he is saying we owe him and we’ve already paid him the $11,000.
