Colonial Penn’s $9.95 plan is grossly misleading, especially for its targeted sector of American society. The suggestion of a fixed rate may be accurate, but only in the dollar amount. There is no mention of a steadily decreasing death benefit as one ages, nor of the limit on how many units can be purchased at $9.95 each. The spokesperson is a multi-millionaire, perhaps because of the number of customers he has duped into buying policies. I mute their ads every time they come up, along with all other life insurance and Medicare advantage ads that are equally misleading. We’re headed toward muting all TV advertising because it seems nobody can be trusted to tell the truth anymore. Discontinue the ads.
