Tried opening coinbase account and get message saying I need to verify device ( this happens often) I did this but error message comes up with a chat screen. Open chat *** Jen Williams saying I’m having trouble Get phone call from 850 666 6930 saying they are coinbase rep and can call me because of chat with Jen Williams and Andy will call me back 850 724 4830 to help me. He assures me that he is a customer service rep and I had someone in Albany ny trying to access my coinbase account and we would need to move my Bitcoin from coinbase pro into regular coinbase account. Of course, I can’t believe I fell for this. Didn’t know at the time that coinbase doesn’t do chats or call people. He said we would have to do this in two portions. And a day apart. Then could move them back once these two transactions were completed I should follow his instructions and not do anything in the meanwhile. So after we hang up. I decide to contact coinbase. Good luck with that You leave message with virtual rep So after doing that I call the only customer support number I can find. Only to get another robot with no options to talk to anyone else. So my account is locked down until September 12. So Andy calls back the next day September 9 and is upset that I did this and says we can wait until September 12 and continue then. So on September 9. Account is reopened. I’m wanting my 5.3 BTC back continue the process with Andy At the time it seemed legit but see now how stupid I was. All through this and after, I reached out to coinbase and have a case 07392555 Had a original case number 07506627 but they combined into one case. I have emails with this case on them. It is actually an email I can reply to and have numerous times and seem to be ignored The last one was sent by coinbase on September 28 saying they were having a specialist address it. I’ve sent replies every day since and have heard nothing back. I think they think I will forget about my 9.6 BTC that were stolen with them looking the other way. My account is now locked but I took the last crumb out and moved it to a different account which was only worth $340 at the time. The lack of help throughout all of this and the ignoring of my pleas, has caused me an unimaginable amount of stress resulting in lack of sleep and depression. I also have been keeping this to myself. I don’t want anyone to know how guilable I feel. I don’t know if there is anyway to recover these funds, but I do feel this was partially due to coinbase very poor customer service. I don’t know if I have a legal case to pursue or leave to my heirs to worry about. Also with the price of btc going up daily and unimaginable prices in the future, I would think this needs to be addressed.
