I am writing to file a complaint against Alan’s Factory Outlet DBA as Carolina Carport. I purchased a fully enclosed metal building in September 2019. They installed it on October 7, 2019. I contacted them on November 6, 2019 regarding light, air and water getting in the building. They suggested some items for me to purchase to rectify the issue. That didn’t work. I contacted Alan’s Factory Outlet again and spoke with Rebecca on January 14, 2020 regarding the building still leaking after following their instructions about filling the cracks. She stated that she would be sending someone out. It’s been two weeks and I haven’t heard anything from anyone. I feel like they should have come out and repaired the leaks in the beginning. I should not have had to try to fill cracks and stop water leaks. When it started raining, the building started leaking. As you can see per the attached email I contacted them on November 6, 2019, to inform them of the issues I was having with the building. I was told to purchase silicone and foam to fix the issue. It took me about a month or two to put the silicone and foam all around the building. This still did not rectify the issue. I called 5 subcontractors to take a look at the building. They would not touch it but stated that it was not installed appropriately and advised me to call the company back and inform them of the issues again and tell them to come to fix the issues. I called them and they stated that they would send someone out but continued to delay until the original installers could be in this area again. However, they didn’t call me with any potential date until we filed a complaint with you all. They sent a crew out on Monday, February 17, 2020. This was not the original crew however the crew that came didn’t act as though they wanted to fix the issue. However, they stated that the building was not installed properly. They also stated that the building was leaking around all the doors, all the windows, around the foundation, and the foam was not installed under the ridge cap. The crew and Amy stated that they were not going to do anything of any significance due to the silicone and foam that they had told me to put in the building. I stated that they told me to put this on the building. I don’t know anything about metal buildings. That’s not my area of expertise. Amy was on the phone with the crew and stated that the office was closed and they would have to send to their shop manager the following day. Amy called on Tuesday, February 18, 2020, and stated that she wanted to call and speak with me prior to speaking with their crew. She stated that she was going to call back later that day but that never happened. I called her today, Friday, February 21, 2020 and she stated that the crew informed her that they had put silicone in the areas that were leaking and the building is no longer leaking. I told her that wasn’t true and that’s not even what they wrote on the work order. She was like do you want to tell me what’s on the work order. I stated no because you should have it. She stated that they only check in once a week and submit paperwork on the following Wednesday. That’s not true and I advised her that this was a serious issue that needs to be rectified in a timely fashion. My business was supposed to open in December 2019 but due to the issues with the water. We have significantly been delayed. She didn’t act as though she cared. They should have gotten the paperwork the following day, not a week or so later. I’m sick of the lies and games. This is why I emailed them regarding the issues I was having regarding the building leaking because I had called them, in the beginning, several times to get clarification on the requirements for the foundation. I spoke with them and then they lied and said that I never called them regarding the foundation. I have my phone records to prove that I called them on several occasions with specific questions from the plumber and the foundation guy. This business is very unethical. They will do anything to cover themselves including lie time after time.
