Driver busted for having a suspended license, open liquor and drugs
A 37-year-old Wallaceburg man is in trouble with the law after police made some troubling discoveries during a traffic stop Sunday night.
Chatham-Kent police said they pulled a vehicle over just before 7:30 p.m. Sunday on McNaughton Avenue in Wallaceburg and learned that the driver had a suspended license and an open alcoholic beverage can in the driver’s side door.
Police said when they searched the vehicle further, they allegedly found a significant amount of methamphetamine in the console.
As a result, 37-year-old Jonathan Thompson of Wallaceburg was arrested and charged with drug possession for the purpose of trafficking.
He was taken back to police headquarters and later released with conditions and a future court date.
