On 2.12.22, during a visit to my local EB Games store in Napier, another customer was trying to make a purchase that had a sale sticker on it.
When she had taken the item to the counter, she explained that the item was marked as 25% only to the male service assistant by the name of Vincent. This staff member was very dismissive and openly, (rudely), while other customers were also in the store, stated aloud looks like we are going to have a problem! before stepping away from the counter and calling to another staff member.
A lady by the name of Jazz came out, seemingly annoyed and abruptly told the customer No! that’s not how it works
The customer reasonably requested a further explanation yet upon this, the staff member and the other smirked and laughed to each other and simply refused any further or discussion regarding the matter.
Further, the customer had asked to take a photo of the product, to which the lady named Jazz snatched the product out of the customers hands, and walked away to hide the item behind the counter.
Refusing the customer any further service, the customer was quite upset yet the staff did not care as she left the store in tears from such treatment, while the staff smirked to each other.
I have been a long time customer of EB Games in Napier and I myself have been made to feel quite uncomfortable by a number of situations from Vincent and Jazz, yet I felt disgusted by this, to the point I don’t feel like returning to the store, which has fallen so far in such a short time.
A serious look at the management team and staffing at EB Games Napier needs to be reevaluated or in the least a serious follow up. This should not be happening in customer service or in family store. If the staff aren’t happy, it should not be backflowing onto customers. I had two kids in store with me and was rather shocked by this behavior.
