Google Phones — Problems with the phone and No refund

Purchased Pixel 3a phone from Google Store. Returned phone due to issues. Was told no restocking fee would be charged, was charged restocking fee. After having problems with a Pixel 3a phone I had purchased from the Google store at the website store.google.com, I opted to return the phone instead of having it replaced. I was told I would not be charged a restocking fee due to the reason for the return being problems with the phone. After receiving an email from Google with the refund status, it appeared that Google had charged my credit card on file a $35 charge itemized as a “restocking fee.” After multiple phone calls, two online chat seasons, and about 12 emails, Google refused to refund my credit card, only offering a Google Store credit to be used for purchases at store.google.com. When asking for a reason to why the credit card could not be refunded as opposed to store credit, no reason was given or my emails were ignored. I also inquired about my options for a $250 credit put on my account in regards to a iPhone 6 I had traded in. I asked if the trade-in could be retracted or if the $250 credit could be given in an alternative method, this email was ignored as well. I would request my credit card be refunded the $35 restocking fee as opposed to the $35 Google Store credit I received. I’d also like an alternative to the $250 Google Store credit I received for my phone trade-in as I have no desire to purchase another Google Store product again after the difficulty I’ve had with customer service provided by Google.
