My elderly Mother and I went to the deli so she could get sliced ham and turkey. I left her at the counter while I shopped for other items. Every time I returned to her to put items in our shopping cart she was still patiently waiting for help. She was finally asked what she wanted. After the employee named Kevin put the block of ham in the slicer he ly walked away to help someone else at the other end of the way who was there long after we’d been waiting. I looked on in amazement and I even heard the other sprouts employee ask him under her breath that she thought he’d already helped us. When he came back I asked if everything was alright. He looked at me blankly and I asked why he’d left to go help someone else. He said he couldn’t leave customers waiting. I explained that we are customers too and that we’d been waiting a lot longer than the other customer. He then muttered that customers get emotional. We received no apology, only a crummy attitude. We were so upset we left the store without getting the turkey and other items we still needed to get. I don’t know if his attitude was due to my Mom being elderly and Latin with a thick accent but I have a suspicion it was. He wasn’t as rude to the other customers. We’ve never had such a miserable experience here or anywhere else and ruined the rest of our day. We’ve spent a lot of money at Sprouts for decades and expect better service from such a consistently excellent store. My husband called the store and spoke to a manager who was very professional and apologized and made us feel better. I’m afraid my husband didn’t get the name of the manager but the incident happens around 1:30pm so I believe he called at 2pm.
