On 09182021 my boyfriend and I entered Family Dollar located at 1057 E Broad St in Elyria Ohio as we normally do a couple times a week. As we exited the store during the conversation between my boyfriend and I he kicked the door as a demonstration fitting into the conversation we were having but meant no violence or malice towards anyone. Although we are taking accountability for his actions being inappropriate and no actual damage was done to the property, it is totally uncalled for to be completely kicked out of the store permanently based on 1 isolated incident. We have been going to that specific store for years and have never had any problems up until now. I did proactively call the store manager whose name is Christina Collins and she did not represent the Family Dollar Brand in a positive manner. She was rude, condescending and her tone of voice during the call didn’t tell me that she was even willing to have a conversation about the incident. Instead she told her employee Jay to relay the message when she found out that Jay and I were acquainted. Totally unprofessional. She relayed the message from Jay to my sister in law who then told me. Once again totally unprofessional. I expressed to her on the call that we are not violent people and although he shouldn’t of kicked the door none the less, being banned from the store was unnecessary. Again we have never had a problem going to that location until now and going forward we will take our business elsewhere. In this economy and with the shortage in employees already, I would think a person in management like that would be a detriment to anybody’s business. Being a Business owner myself I totally understand that someone like that, that is representing any sort of establishment would need to be better trained in what it looks like for a business to be customer centered and customer friendly. She was just the opposite. I would encourage you to evaluate the sales numbers and the staff turnover rate from that location with her being part of the management team because honestly if I had to guess or put any amount of money on it, She would most likely be the reason why the numbers are not as consistent as I’m sure you would like them to be. Before I was a Business Owner, my specialty was Customer Service as a Customer Service Coach and if what she demonstrated was an accurate picture of What the Family Dollar Brand is all about then yes I will gladly take my Business elsewhere, me and my family. Retrain your managers and help them understand, learn and demonstrate how an effective person in management conducts themselves and is pivotal for the overall morale of the store. She specifically needs a lesson in effective communication and the do’s and don’ts of relaying inappropriate messages that should really have come from her and the proper telephone etiquette when dealing with the public.
