I sent my Sony DSC-HX80, only two months old, to Precision Camera company at the request of Sony. I received it back covered with filthy fingerprints and sticky food, not put fully back together and without my battery. They said they had evidence of corrosion inside, yet it had never been in the rain or near water. They also said the camera was beyond repair. I called and complained and asked for my battery back. I then called Sony, the lady in the Philippines was nice, she transferred me to an AH named Mark. He said sorry but Sony doesn’t care about what “precision? “ did and Sony basically didn’t give a **** about my camera. I also contacted Buydig who I bought it from on eBay. They said call Sony. I sent it to Precision Camera at Sony’s request. eBay now says I didn’t report it before 45 days even though I had reported the problem to them well before the 45 days and it is documented. So, I was screwed, right? No, I wanted to put the camera back together. I opened it back up and blew the onoff switch off with a squeeze bulb. Then reassembled the camera. Put a new battery in that I bought from a local store and the camera turned on. I set it out in the Arizona shade for a day and it works just fine. I did not see any corrosion. I hope it continues to work well. DO NOT USE PRECISION CAMERA, DO NOT BUY SONY, DO NOT BUY FROM BUYDIG, AND DON’T USE EBAY WHO WILL RIP YOU OFF! They should exchange the camera for one that has been finicky.
