Camden Living — Extortion charges

Lived for four years there. I will start from Positive . Maintance staff is quick in response and does job what it has to do. I lived here for long time as it was conveniently located nearby school. Having said that in other aspects they donot value residents. Put unjustified costs and never give you a hearing when you raise concern. Manadatory TV and Internet Charges (No freedom to choose provider ) is another stigma that residents have to live with but my complain is not about that. If you try to leave before lease (lease break), you have to give and pay two months Notice and One month Cancellation fee. So in total 3 months rent+ extortion charges they put as a surprise afte you move out . Living four years will have the normal usage of almost everything. They never cleaned in beween renewals but at the end charged cleaming fee though I left apartment very clean. When I moved in , they said carpet will be replaced in one year , but carpet was not replaced so obviously once I moved out , you have to remove and renew carpet (should be in use more than 6 years). Then why charging me cleaning fee over and above that. Before I moved out they send man to take kitchen drawer sizes and told me that they are going to redesign kithcen once I move out (I can figure that out from the new kitchen design that they have posted on camden website. So they are replacing everything in kitchen but is it on my cost. I see a bill of 380$ to replace with a note of – Replaced kitchen and bathroom countertops due to water damage. There was no water damage when I left and in last year they never pointed out while i raised maintanance request that there is any damage. Now when they have to redesign , they will extract money from resident who is moving out , lived there for four years and paid all dues on time. Then they add huge amount over and above of lease breakage charges (Reletting – Rent Response Charge Dev Moved out 21 days early from NTV- $824.06). I have already paid full month rent then why this extra charge and this charge was never mentioned to me even when I constantly interchanging messages from the manager about date I will handover keys. In the tough times when everyone should lookout of others, Camden is busy making money from resident. This goes to Michael (Manager) to whom I have written again and again to review charges. Again maintance staff is awesome. Management needs to be relooked upon . Specifically – Remove Unfair Charges that were not agreed upon or informed in advance.
