We are tenants at Alta Waverly in Oakland, and the property managers changed their minds about fees upon moving out (after we agreed on a policy and planned our move). We spoke with two property managers who confirmed that choosing a rent responsible option would mean we are responsible for pro-rated rent until a new tenant was found, and this would result in no move-out fee. We confirmed multiple times with these property managers that we would incur no fees for breaking a lease nor be required to pay back concessions. We planned our move out based on this policy. Suddenly the property manager switched to a new hire, and they are not honoring the agreement made by two property managers just a week before. The difference in fees is over $10K which would have been a huge consideration for our planning for moving out. The new manager is not reviewing past conversations with management nor honoring the policy that was in place for people moving out one week prior.
